2017|New Italian wine law on production and sales.

On November 28, 2016 the Italian Parliament has approved the new law on wine production and sales (“Disciplina organica della coltivazione della vite e della produzione e del commercio del vino”) Law n. 238/2016 dated 12/12/2016.

The law will enter into force on January 12, 2017.
This new law is a “consolidated law” composed of several chapters whereby each chapter describes the general principle of its subject matter and coordinates the other laws and regulations on: wine production; use of IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) and DOP (Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) logos; sales and marketing of wines; production and sales of winegars.
This new wine law is the first ever consolidated law we have in Italy approved in order to simplify the procedure for wine production and try harmonize and coordinate the jungle of Italian laws and regulations on wine and winegars.
